What we anticipate will be our signature product is currently under design
and development. The product will be based substantially upon the experience
of Officer Melvin L. Willis, Jr. (Honorably Retired) as a working police officer
in Patrol, Field Training, Criminal Investigations, Narcotics and Vice,
Organized Crime, Intelligence, Tactical, Police Planning, Crime Analysis,
Public Information, and IT (computer systems management and development). We
are in the process of creating a Law Enforcement Product targeting small to
medium sized agencies which will be user friendly, run on just about any
PC (personal computer) and priced by agency size.
The product will be available in affordable modules, such as a Records
Management Module, an Arrest Module, an Accident Report Module, an
Offense/Incident Module, a customizable Case Reports Module, a Uniform Crime
Reporting Module, an Electronic Arrest Submission Module for Texas Agencies,
an Arrest Reporting Module, a Booking and Property Module, a Crime Analysis and
GIS Mapping module, etc. Of course a Master Name Index Module (MNI) will be
included with any module. Tentatively we may include an AFIS and Henry Search
Module. We are considering a Dispatch and field reporting modules as well.
All data will be systematically archived on inexpensive optical media.
Our system will comply with the
Texas State
Library and Archives Commission requirements.
Emphasis will be placed on robust yet inexpensive solutions which will most
likely employ a MultiValue product such as, Pick D3, Reality, or OpenQM. We may
rely heavily on Open Source Solutions to keep costs reasonable. Development
will be based extensively on feedback from BETA product users. Any agency
purchasing our product will receive source code upon signing a non-disclosure
agreement. It is possible that the product will be licensed under an Open
Source (GNU) license.
A portion has been developed in Visual Basic for an SQL database. That
portion is currently under review to determine if we will continue with VB or
take a different path in light of current trends and cross platform
compatibility. Projected availability is unknown.
